The poem To a Certain Civilian in Leaves of Grass (in Drum Taps I think) sounded like a big ol’ middle finger to somebody. Though, in the stlye of You’re So Vain and You Outta Know I don’t think we’ll ever find out who this Certain Civilian is.
(That is unless someone smarter than I has already figured it out.)
